A Big improvement over previous versions. November 19, 2008 Jeffrey C. Wiseman (San Diego, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had quit using Norton for the last few of years. I needed a new Internet Security Suite and Norton 2009 was rated at or near the top of all the ratings I checked. Norton did especially well with independent lab tests. (There are so many companies trying to look independent, so it takes some effort to find truly independent tests.) Norton found a "Trojan" my old Suite did Not find (Kaspersky). It also Scans much faster.
Still tough on crime but easier on the users November 16, 2008 Margaret Tassey (A beach in Florida) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I do computer training and light technical work for small offices and home users. I used to recommend Norton, but in recent years it had caused so many problems, from slowing down the machine to requiring daunting re-installs, that I advised many clients to just use a free anti-virus and the built-in firewalls and hope for the best. I was encouraged to try again based on good reviews and have not been disappointed. It is fast and does its work in the background without calling attention to itself. Norton always handled bugs about as well as anyone, it was just that the users got beat up too.
Norton Internet Security 2009 November 10, 2008 Doctor Dan (Fairfield, Iowa) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've used the Norton utilities for many years. Previous versions always did what I wanted \ needed at the expense of slowed performance. Not so for the 2009 Internet Security suite. This package does everything it is supposed to do without bogging down the system -- you hardly know it's running. I am an A+ Certified computer professional and know a little about computer systems. I am glad to see Symantec finally getting their program straightened out! Speed AND effectivness! I would recommend this product to anyone.
Norton got it Right November 10, 2008 Norm! (Marietta, GA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've been using Norton products (System Works, antivirus, Internet Security, Ghost, etc.) for years. I noticed early in this decade the antivirus software was significantly slowing down my computers. So much so, with Internet Security 2007, I decided to move to Bit Defender Inernet Security 2008. Well, Bit Defender ended up needing more care and feeding than Norton, so I decided to try Internet Security 2009 on a new computer. What a difference. I hardly notice that it's running now. It seems to be transparent on my system. I checked it's certifications and found that it passed all the rigorous standards for security, so it appears that Norton got it right with this version. I noticed that my office has upgraded to the enterprise version, too. I got it at a deal on Amazon, but it appears that sale is over and the price is back up--maybe they'll run another sale. If so, I'll probably upgrade all my computers to 2009. Well done.
Simple Install - Works Great November 8, 2008 Mark Fangue (Del Mar, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
For three years I suffered thru the excruciatingly long startup time required by Norton System Works 2006 on my Sony laptop running XP. I swore that I would never buy another Norton product and did a fair amount of research to find the best alternative to that bloated, clumsy and annoying software. I mistakenly clicked the Norton popup thinking I was updating my Norton 2006 software but soon realized I had actually started the process of installing the trial version of Norton Internet Security 2009. This software installed easily and runs great. The Norton Insight tool is great in identifying safe files and does not waist my time scanning these safe files over and over again. The interface is intuitive and the setup options are easily understood. I then uninstalled System Works 2006 from the Sony. I then installed Internet Security 2009 on my Toshiba laptop. All is well. The list price for the 3 PC version is $69.99. I am suspect of deals where you don't receive a boxed CD and wonder if the emailed software key is legitimate. I bought the 3-PC software from soundsugar_media for $42.98 plus $3.99 shipping. New, unopened box. Just as I had hoped. Mark Fangue
