my mom's iced tea August 8, 2008 Mike (upstate, NY USA) As you seem like nice people, I will share my own mothers very delicious iced tea recipe. Of course, yours won't taste exactly like my Mom's as they have the most pure and delicious well water at my parent's. But still... OK.. this is not a southern sweetened tea or anything. Mom uses those typical plastic refrigerator jugs like you would use for this kind of thing. Probably around two liters in size?? She uses three regular lipton tea bags and one blackberry bag. Run very hot water from the tap and put maybe two cups worth in the bottom of the jug. Let the tea bags steep in this for a while. A few hours, overnight... it isn't an exact science. Then just fill with water and put in the fridge to chill. (she leaves the tea bags right in there until the pitcher is empty) When cold, sip it happily or chug it by the glassful. Very good and quenching, with just a hint of the blackberry. The perfect accompaniment to toast, a muffin, bologna and cheese, pb&j, life... I have probably had well over 50,000 glasses of this iced tea in my life time. I like it. Maybe you will too. good luck... - Mike
Good stuff! May 28, 2008 The Lady (USA) My husband who wasn't a big tea drinker until I met him, LOVES this stuff. I couldn't find it in the store anymore, so I ordered it online. He was so happy when he saw his stash. He made a cup and disappeared so he could drink it in peace. He told me later how much he enjoyed having it again. It really is some good stuff.
Blackberry Tea December 8, 2007 A. King Tilley (Richmond, Virginia) I developed a taste for blackberry tea several years ago and then...my grocery store stopped carrying it. I searched high and low, but to no avail. In desparation I went to the NET. Amazon had it. Sent it. I got it. 400 bags worth. This tea is obviously my favorite. The flavor is lightly sweet and aeromatic and is just like real blackberries I use to pick along the sides of country roads as a kid.
Great Recipe for this tea June 25, 2007 Tyler Van Keuren This is a good blend of tea with sweet and tangy blackberry. Heres a good recipe: Use a 1 gallon jug, fillwith ice 2/3. Pour any purified or spring water into it filling it just below the spout, then dump the water into a kettle. Heat until just the start of boiling, and douse 8-10 Blackberry bags into it. Lower the heat so it is very, very small, just enough to keep the tea from coolinhg. Let the bags sit for 25 to 45 minutes, depending on how you like the stregth of your tea. Take the bags out, and pour in approximately 1 cup of sugar (more or less to taste) while the tea is still hot, and stir well till all the sugar is dissolved. Then take 1/2 to 2/3 cup of freshed squeezed lemon juice (less to taste) and add to the kettle. Stir. Throw the lemon wedges in the tea pitcher and/or glass, pour the tea into the pitcher, stir a bit and viola: tasty Blackberry Lemon Iced Tea. :) Been making this for a few years now, and I have perfected the recipe.
