Product Description SBT-USC1K is perfect for use with serial devices that you would want to convert to USB. This unique cable allows you to use bridge/connectivity between the Universal Serial Bus (USB) and Serial Port Interface. The USB PDA/Serial Adapter provides you with an external serial (DB-9 male) Plug-n-Play connection for use with computers, notebooks, and hand held computing devices that support USB. The PDA/USB Serial Adapter has a standard type A USB plug. This USB PDA/Serial Adapter provides PDAs, digital cameras, modems, and ISDN terminal adapters with high quality serial connections at a data transfer rate of over 500 Kbps. This makes the USB interface transparent to serial peripherals, allowing them to easily interface with USB computers. It eliminates the setup hassle found with traditional serial port connections. This device also supports energy saving suspend and resume operations.

Works great in Linux October 23, 2008 David Miller (OH United States) I bought this in order to use my old serial GPS receiver with my newer laptop. It works great in Ubuntu Linux, and I was able to use my GPS again!
Enables use of my Palm IIIc with my new HP laptop September 23, 2008 C. Baylor (Philadelphia, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased a new laptop which does not have a serial port. This item allowed me to continue to use my Palm IIIC. Setup was quick and the adapter cable works perfectly.
Not a bad bang for the buck September 18, 2008 D. Rose (Dallas, Texas United States) Bought some of these as I needed a serial interface into some equipment and the computers my work was building no longer had these available. Install the driver, plug in the cable, and go. Only caveat was remembering which serial port it was using. Cable did what I needed it to do and I really can't complain.
PL2303! September 13, 2008 W. Glynn (Chicago, IL) As another reviewer pointed out, this item uses the Prolific PL-2303 chip, giving excellent support under Linux and Mac OSX. Unlike some other USB to serial adapters (such as those from Cypress), this device correctly implements hardware flow control and sets proper line voltages, ensuring full RS-232 compatibility. Not only is it good, it's also very inexpensive. Five stars in my book.
Don't order this item. It would be at least 30 days before you get it. September 6, 2008 Gary Cavener (Oregon City, OR) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item should be listed as temporarily unavailabe. The listing says it might take an extra day to ship. My confirmation says to expect to wait at least a month. If I didn't need it now, I wouldn't have ordered it.
